Fatma Koraïchi
About the Artist
Artist Biography
Fatma Koraïchi is an Algerian-born contemporary artist whose practice is rooted in spirituality, memory, and the ethical responsibility of art in the face of human tragedy. Shaped by a profound engagement with cultural heritage and social consciousness, her work explores the capacity of artistic expression to bear witness, preserve memory, and create spaces of collective healing.
As the daughter of internationally acclaimed artist Rachid Koraïchi, Fatma Koraïchi has developed a distinct artistic voice while actively contributing to major cultural and humanitarian initiatives. She plays a central role in the Jardin d’Afrique (Garden of Africa) in Zarzis, Tunisia — a non-denominational memorial founded in 2021 to honor migrants who lost their lives crossing the Mediterranean Sea. Conceived as both a burial ground and a site of contemplation, the garden embodies a rare convergence of art, ritual, and human dignity. Working alongside her father and sister Aïcha, Koraïchi has been deeply involved in the creation, artistic development, and ongoing stewardship of this landmark project, which stands as a powerful testament to remembrance and ethical responsibility.
Her artistic practice spans textiles, ceramics, and installation, and is informed by sacred symbolism, calligraphy, and visual languages drawn from Sufi philosophy. Through these forms, Koraïchi engages with themes of transcendence, identity, and the invisible threads that connect individual lives to collective histories. Her work resists spectacle, favoring instead a quiet intensity that invites reflection and spiritual presence.
In parallel with her studio practice, Fatma Koraïchi has participated in exhibitions and cultural initiatives that interrogate the relationship between art and social justice, often in dialogue with her father’s work while maintaining an independent conceptual approach. Her contributions reflect a sustained commitment to art as an act of care, one that honors the past, confronts the present, and gestures toward a more humane future.

Featured Exhibitions
Fatma Koraïchi has participated in a range of exhibitions and artistic projects that explore the intersections of memory, spirituality, and social justice, often within collaborative and interdisciplinary contexts. Her work has been presented in exhibitions connected to broader cultural and humanitarian initiatives, where art functions as both a visual language and an ethical gesture.
A significant part of her exhibition history is closely linked to the Jardin d’Afrique (Garden of Africa) in Zarzis, Tunisia. Beyond its role as a memorial site, the project has been the subject of international attention, public presentations, and cultural programs highlighting contemporary artistic responses to migration, loss, and remembrance. Within this context, Koraïchi’s contributions—particularly through ceramics, symbolic inscriptions, and spatial interventions—form an integral part of the project’s artistic identity.
In addition to this ongoing work, Koraïchi has taken part in group exhibitions and cultural initiatives that engage with themes of sacred geometry, calligraphy, and material practices rooted in North African and Sufi traditions. Frequently working in dialogue with her father, Rachid Koraïchi, she contributes to exhibitions that emphasize transmission, collective memory, and the continuity of artistic heritage across generations.
Her exhibition practice reflects a commitment to art as a lived process rather than a purely representational act, one that unfolds through place, collaboration, and long-term engagement with social and cultural realities.
