Amine Chaouali — A Visionary of Post-Contemporary Art
Amine Chaouali is a Tunisian visual artist whose work bridges tradition and bold contemporary expression. Born in 1969 near Carthage, he is entirely self-taught and has developed a distinctive, multidisciplinary practice spanning painting, sculpture, ceramics, installation, and performance.
Over more than three decades, his work has been exhibited in Tunisia and internationally. Blending influences from Impressionism, Fauvism, Orientalism, and Art Brut, Chaouali creates a vibrant artistic language defined by expressive forms, rich colors, and recurring motifs such as the female figure and the cat—symbols through which he explores identity, freedom, and emotion.
